TTS Ukrainian missing

TTS Ukrainian missing

Postby Maria » Wed May 25, 2022 12:32 am

Hi,
I just tried to download sound via TTS (Amazon Polly) in Ukrainian into my Android App. But that in not working anymore. Was there a change anyhow? It worked 2 month ago. Is there another way to find Ukrainian TTS? Unfortunately on iOS there is no Ukrainian at all. (I have the app installed on two different devices.)

Regards,
Maria

Hi Maria,

Amazon Polly doesn't have it. iOS doesn't have it.
My Android phone has it in the "Android" TTS Engine section. Do you see it and did you try to install by tapping "Download"?

One Android issue with this is that it won't work when Airplane Mode is turned on. Turn off airplane mode and the download then works for me.

If this doesn't solve your problem, what exactly is "not working".

Hi again,

no, it's still not working. I chose the TTS-Engine Android and found Ukrainian. Then I agreed to "Default". Going one step back, I can see that the chosen language is "Google Ukrainisch (Ukraine)".
Going back another step, the button "Download Sound" is not available to click, meaning that the lettes are a shade lighter than the other "buttons".

I am not in airplane mode.

Just to check I tried the same process with another language (English) and there - after choosing the language - appeares the button "Download" whereas with Ukrainian it shows "Default"... (?)

For "Android" TTS voices, you do not download them. After setting the Android voice/language, return to the study screen, and you should see a play button in the lower half of the screen.

(Download is only for Amazon Polly voices.)

After selecting the Android voice, do you see a play button in the study screen?
