Private iSpeech Account

I fully understand the reason that you're now using amazon polly instead of iSpeech. Unfortunately IMHO the (spanish) voice of iSpeech is MUCH better than polly's. I checked the prices for iSpeech and they are looking fine for a personal use. How about to implement a possibility to use a personal iSpeech account? Or is there another way? I for myself would pay the price to get the much better voice.

I'm a little disappointed to hear that the Polly Spanish is not so great. Are you using European, Mexican or US version?

Polly has an improved US Spanish voice Lupe, but I don't know how much better it is and it's only US variant.

I thought that iSpeech might have changed one or more of their Spanish voices a few months ago. Did you verify that recent TTS creations from iSpeech are still good?

Can you tell me what pricing you saw. All I basically see is "pay per use" of $50 for 2000 credits?

As of now, I don't think I will add support for a personal key from within Flashcards Deluxe. It's possible I could create some Excel VBA code to share that would download and create these files, but with my time so limited, I'm not sure if want to go down this road either.

Meanwhile I tested a little bit more. The spanish polly sounds good on the website but it the app it have a quite lower volume (too low) and sounds a little bit "computerish".
Yes, I saw that price and though that it would be possible to create and download the sounds - $50 for 2000 words sounds okay for me. Anki's addon works that way.
However, your integrated solution is much better and would be my favorite way. Can you please check why the volume is so much lower and the quality less then iSpeech?
I'm absolutely sure that even if you don't speak spanish you will hear the difference.

I tested out US Spanish male voice.

Below is link to 3 mp3 files: ... t4n_a?dl=0

1) iSpeech sample (
2) Polly sample from Amazon (
3) Polly sample from FCD

- I can't hear any real difference between Amazon's version and FCD's version
- I compared Polly voice with Siri on the device, and they both sounded similar volume
- The iSpeech volume is a bit louder. I can't tell if iSpeech or Polly is better sounding.

I'm happy to look into this further, but I'll need more info from you. As of now, I can't yet see a problem.

I did some more testing too. The voices are comparable equal. On my device (iPhone 6s) the volume is very different for certain words (half of the volume of others). I think a possibility to change the volume per audio file would be a great idea and not too hard to add :)

Anyway, great app that I use every day and great support that I appreciate!!

I made some more tries...and because all new cards will come with amazon polly, I can hear the difference quiet well. Although the voices are nearly the same as long as you play it from a file but within the app they are sound very different. The polly speech is less louder, a little bit too fast and sound artifically. I already asked for the idea to add the possibility to use an own iSpeech account. !!However, if this would be to much effort, how about the possibility to add own sound files (I'm using excel and dropbox). With that I could write me a script/pgm that will automatically translate my words using iSpeech then uploading them to the dropbox (the Ankhi addon for speech uses that approach). Sorry, I love your app very much but without iSpeech is a big step backwards :(

"how about the possibility to add own sound files (I'm using excel and dropbox)"

Yes, you can do this. My website how info on how to create flashcards outside the app and transfer:

I recently created a video on this:

Unless I am misunderstanding you, it seems you need to add some header columns at the top (to tell the app what's in each column), and add a header for "Sound 1" or "Sound 2", enter the file names in this column, and put the media files in the proper location in Dropbox.
