How to restrict card number in a round in the active mode?

Postby Tranquility » Mon Jul 27, 2026 11:26 pm

Another problem I have trouble dealing with is when I finish all the due cards in the space-repetition mode, I find the card number is not set in the active mode.

This can be quite tricky for me sometimes, since I'm learning a deck of maybe thousands of cards, so a group in the active mode can be over a hundred sometimes. This is overwhelming for me more often than not.

Is there any possible way to restrict the set of cards in numbers as in the due mode, where I can practice at most 20 cards in a round and immediately repeat the wrong ones in the next round?

Another excellent question.

The non-due active mode is a bit rough.

I will suggest another approach.

Create a "Combination Deck" with your single large deck.
Change to "short term goal". This will give you a better experience for repeats.
Cards to Study > Interval > Active

Now instead of using the "non-due active" mode in the spaced repetition setting, exit your deck and open up this combination deck to due some extra studying.
If you have custom layouts, you'll need to reapply, unfortunately.

I think you'll be OK using the same statistics set for both decks, but to keep things more separated, you might want to change your "short term goal" deck to use statistics set 3. In the combo deck, open Show Side First > Statistics Set > 3.

Let me know how it goes.
I do agree that this needs to be more automatic and smooth.
Most people with large decks and have so many due cards it's tough to keep up, so no need to do EXTRA studying.
