This is a very good point... you CAN import from dropbox right now.
See this page: http://orangeorapple.com/Flashcards/PersonalWeb.aspx
Basically, your deck code can by any URL of a text file on the internet.

What the app doesn't do is import from a non-public area, or show you what decks you have available for download, or sync back to dropbox, or fancy stuff like that.... yet.

I already import off dropbox. The file would need to be in the dropbox "public" directory, right mouseclick to get the filename. (or at least right mouseclick on the public folder to get the link).
Then on go to:
- Add Decks >> Private Deck >> Deck Code ... and then enter http://dl.dropbox.com/u/whateveryourspe ... filename... with extension.

Thank you! I look forward to the updates. Great job on the app by the way. Flashcards is a super-useful tool for the iPad. When I have a few minutes to spare, I like to study my flashcards instead of playing games or surfing the web.

Another two ways some apps import data is over wi-fi and through iTunes.

Wi-fi : I don't plan on supporting this until possibly Apple provides an easier way to do this
iTunes transfer : This is on my to-list, and will probably be done in the same update with my next dropbox / google docs work.

Pretty soon, I will start work on being able import/export/sync with dropbox and google docs.

Currently, you can update an existing deck without creating a new one. At the main screen, tap "Edit" then the deck. Notice the current "deck code" setting, which can be a code for my server, or an complete http path. tap Download then "Replace All Cards". All cards will be replaced with the new text data, but statistics for a card will be kept if a close enough match can be found between the two sets of data.

I would like to import via WiFi just like in Tabtool Kit:

Is this possible?

Importing Decks

I would like to have the option of importing decks from Dropbox, MobileMe or iTunes. I tried uploading my deck to the Orangeorapple.com web server last night and kept getting MAC verification errors. The problem is I don't know if it is a format issue with my deck or a server issue. I just tried to submit the same deck and now everything uploaded without issue.

Also, it would be great to be able to import an updated version of a deck from a local folder without having to create a new deck.

Thanks!
