Ernie,

Thanks for the followup! Sounds like I can't quite do what I was hoping for right now. But to be honest, it's not a priority for me at the moment (got sidetracked by other projects as well). I can still imagine it might be useful for myself someday or for others, so might be worth leaving in the pile of ideas for the future, but don't prioritize it on my account. Thanks!

Hi KLQ,

I can't believe it's been 3 months already. I've been sidetracked on other projects for a while, but back on Flashcards Deluxe.

I'm not sure if you are still interested in this topic, but I did a test and it does seem these settings are mostly getting exported and imported. For example:

* L1-study-alt-stat-dir 1
* L1-study-alt-streak 2
* L1-study-alt-interval 400
* L1-category-1-include 1

The first three show alternate streak and interval settings. the "1" setting on the first line means "set #2" (add 1)

The last setting shows the categories that are included when some are excluded. The "1" represents the first category. This is a bit more tricky to manually create.

What I don't export is whether "Unassigned" is checked or not checked.

Ernie,

Thanks for the info and for taking a look! I'll look forward to a new version at some point.

By the way, after my post, I realized there is at least one more setting I'm using that I don't think is showing up - the Cards To Study - "Additional Streak / Interval", which by the way is an awesome feature.

Thanks!
K

Hi,

1) Not currently, it seems! I didn't know about this problem, so thanks for letting me know. I don't seem to export selected category info when advanced layout is turned on. I likely then don't read this info on import, but I need to check. I will look into this and plan to fix this for the next update. If I run into a problem with making the update, I'll post here.

2) I originally posted information on "card statistics" string, not "deck statistics". At the bottom is my original info on Card statistics if interested. As for deck statistics, I don't have any information prepared for this for easy sharing. These holds stats like time studied and number of cards reviewed. They don't affect scheduling of cards. I'll paste some general info below, but it's not all-informative.

Card Statistics

General format:
Status, Flag, Review Count, Correct Count, Streak, Rounds until Shown (Leitner), Current Interval (in hours), Last Review, Due Date

Status – 0) Pending 1) New 2) Active 3) Exclude
Flag values – 0) not flagged 1) flagged
Review Count – number of times tested
Correct Count – number of times gotten correct
Streak – number of times in row you got it correct. This can be greater than Review Count since a strong correct will increase this by 2 for a single response.
Rounds until shown – Use for Leitner mode to delay card testing
Current Interval – current time between testing for Spaced Repetition mode, in hours.
Last Review – Date/time of last testing for this card.
Due Date - Date/time when card will become due next. Generally, due date = last review + current interval.

Manually set Cards to Study in .xlsx / Q on deck stats

Post by KLQ » Fri Apr 10, 2020 11:56 am

Ernie,

Love this app!
I have a question primarily about manually creating decks in Excel with pre-set settings (I'm writing some Python to do it in bulk). Most settings are clear from looking at the export of an existing deck set up the way I want it, but "Cards to Study" is one setting I don't see.

The background is that I used some other posts to figure out how to set up a Layout to start with Side 4 (I'm using it to get some practice recognizing unusual plural forms without the context of the singular word). Since not all my cards have a Side 4, I'm using the categories to label those cards, and then using "Cards to Study" to "exclude unassigned". When I look at the exported deck, I can see the settings for advanced-lay out, the lay out names and strings, and the stat-direction, but I can't see where the option for excluding/including categories is set. I thought maybe it was embedded in the deck stats, but I couldn't find any documentation to explain those (I did find your helpful .xls on the card stats - thanks). Generally, I'm curious about the meaning of the deck stats anyway. So my two questions are:

1) Is there a way to manually set the Cards to Study option using categories in a spreadsheet of cards for import?
2) How can I interpret the deck stats

Thanks!
K
