No :)

I haven't tested it yet. Just saw older posts about using pencil, and that it had no updated posts about it. I will test it out when I get the pencil, and then report back here :)

I was actually more thinking about using pencil when studing, not creating/editing cards. Sort of like: use pencil to write answer, and then check if characters where written correctly. I'm using FCD to study Thai - which uses different characters than English

Hi rr4949,

There's two places in the app you can draw: in the study screen and in the card edit/detail screen. I assume we're talking about the card edit/detail screen, where pictures can be saved with the card.

I recently made an update that would block finger taps after using pencil on an individual picture edit. But otherwise, no special pencil support. You should be able to use pencil just like you'd use a finger.

I don't have any plans at this time to use apple's Pencil Kit. One of my main annoyances with it is that you can't control the pen width like I would like. Drawing slow vs fast can dramatically change the line width, which annoyed me. My drawing setup is pretty simple, but seems good enough. Is there a reason you really think Pencil Kit would be an improvement over the current setup?

Hi :)

Just bumping this thread. My favorite app is your app. I recently got a new ipad which support newest apple pencil. I've ordered that pencil, and will be looking forward to using it with your app.

So, as above. Any chance of updating the code with PencilKit as stated above? Close to 2 years since last post about it, and was hoping for it :)

Hi Andreas,

I wasn't aware of the new PencilKit api. Thanks for letting me know. I likely won't get to this anytime soon, but I should eventually move my drawing code to use this, so I will add it to my to do list.

Hi!

The pencil functions could be improved a lot by using PencilKit. My understanding is that using it gives you the same great pens as in the internal graphics editor.
I assume it comes with palm rejection too.

Best regards,
Andreas

Murat,

The iPad should have some built-in palm rejection. I would not be able to add my own palm rejection logic due to complexity, I believe. I don't know what I can really do. I probably won't be improving my drawing code in any way in the near future due to other priorities.

Hi. I don't understand what extra functionality you are looking for.

The pencil should work just like a finger, correct?
One possible problem is that I don't have any palm rejection logic. This is something I need to look into.

Do you want ink that is more expressive, instead of just a solid flat line of equal width? In this case, I don't plan on adding anything fancy like this at this time. My focus is not drawing. I've have some basic drawing feature in the app, but if you need more, you'll need to use another app to make your drawings.

I can consider improving my drawing in small ways, if I understand better what the problem is.

We hope that FD supports drawing function with Apple pencil.

I use ipad pro 2nd with Apple pencil.

FD supports only finer drawing.
Apple pencil is recognized as finger touch and drawing with FD app.

We hope FD supports a delicate apple pencil drawing and handwriting ink.

Apple pencil handwriting will be very useful with Education App (such as a FD)

It amazes me that FD don't make use of Apple pencil handwriting since 2014
