Hi Shunarjuna. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll make a note of this and give it some more thought after I get some other higher priority items done.

And for Ernie, if you're still checking this thread, maybe a suggestion for the future you could have an X cards per X days/weeks/months mode. For example; in a deck with 100 cards I could say "I want to cycle through this deck once every week.", or "I want to study 25 cards per day." Then the app could distribute those cards accordingly. And if you set the notifications to alert you when 10 cards are due, then it does just that.

Just a suggestion.

Thanks for the suggestions taeril. I will play around with those settings and see what I can come up with. It might be better though to split each story into smaller parts and make 1 deck per story. Anyway, I will play around with it. Thanks.

Maybe I misunderstood you, you can also, in this way set other kinds of intervals as well, having one story Set to repeat once per day, and always just have 24h interval if you reduce interval after correct to 1.

Though it will continue to show as due after you do it for wanted numbers of times.

I would suggest you split series in shorter sentences both audio and text and typing them in. Doing this after few times, I can understand listening audio without problems in Chinese

You need "FIRST INTERVAL AFTER STRONG" as "FIRST INTERVAL" is limited to 200 hours
Hope that helps, if you didn't understand me, please say so and I can post you screen shots, I'm pretty sure you can do what you want, and it's pretty simple.

Sorry for splitting this into two posts, mine submit button disappears on mobile if post is to long

Think you could actually do what you want, but you would need to go in space repetition settings and set it there.

I would recommend you check there options, you can set cards to first repeat after up of up to 90 days. That's "FIRST INTERVAL AFTER STRONG “, So if you have 12 stories, you should set this interval to 12, "CORRECT INTERVAL FACTOR" to 1 and then you will have every twelve days one of the stories becoming due, if you every day as 1 by 1. And then when you first listen the story strong Mark it, you could also set "STRONG INTERVAL FACTOR" to 1, so you just use strong interval factor, it's less confusing then.

Thanks for the quick reply. I realise that a flashcard app is probably not designed to do what I want but thought it couldn't hurt to ask. I just really like using your app and it would be nice to keep all my practice material in one place.

Hi,

Notifications are only supported with Spaced Repetition mode. Spaced Repetition mode doesn't seem appropriate for your purpose.

If you are using Android, my app can't pause audio (yet), which might be a big problem. For iOS, you can swipe up or down on the sound-play button to bring up a more advanced screen that will allow you to pause and loop sections.

Just using "Ordered" card-order mode might be appropriate. You can keep track of either "review count" or "streak" (number of times in a row you've gotten a card right) to gauge progress. Note that answering wrong will reset streak to 0. If you like streak but don't want the streak to potentially drop so much on wrong answer, use "short term goal" card-order mode and see options there to drop streak on wrong by desired amount.

If you want to limit cards, go to Deck Options > Cards to Study. For example, you can show cards that have a review count less than 5, so that once you've reviewed a card 5 times it will get removed from study.

For notifications, you might considering using another to-do type app for that.

Really love the app and using it successfully for memorising Japanese sentences.

However, I have a series of audio stories in Japanese (each 10-20mins) and I want to listen to one per day and cycle through the series until I've listened to each story a set number of times. I like the notifications ("10 cards due" etc.) and clearing them out is a great motivator for me. I've tried the spaced repetition mode but the cards tend to pile up and more than one card per day is too much for this deck and the other modes don't seem to have a one card per round per day setting or notifications. Is there some way to set the app up to do what I want?

Thanks.
