I’m trying to create links in my Flashcards that will take me to external reference materials (
by “external” I mean outside of the Flashcards Deluxe app, but hosted locally on my iPhone or iPad). For example, I am using FD to prep for an IT Security certification exam that is described in great detail in an ePub on Apple Books. I could cut & paste the info from the ebook, but I’d much rather have a hyperlink that will open the actual book in my Apple Books application.
Apple says that we can open iBooks to a specific book by including the assetid of the book you want to open. Getting the assetid is a bit cumbersome, but doable if your list of references repeats frequently. Example:
- Code: Select all
ibooks://assetid/1396541327
Additional details can be found on the Apple.com website -
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202929 - where they also mention that you can’t use a link to open to a specific page of an Apple Books ePub (
just my luck).
I ran across some dated material (circa 2010) about using links formatted as
- Code: Select all
itms-books://
, but it was quite old and doesn’t seem to be working any longer.
Has anybody else wrestled with the hyperlink monster? Have you had any luck? I’d love to learn more.
Thanks,
John
