I wasn't able to go to a particular page either, with the book I tried. From the link you provided, it seems only some books support this feature. There's nothing I can do from Flashcards Deluxe to "fix" this. Keep in mind that you can also test these links out by pasting URL into Safari address bar... results should be the same.

Thanks Ernie.

I stumbled on the "Extra Info" option here in the FD Forum; it works great for some things, but I haven't been able to use it link to a specific location in an ePub in Apple Books (i.e., a specific page that contains details on the topic of my flashcard). I found a caveat on the Apple Developers' website that indicates this is a shortcoming of the Books application, so I doubt anybody will have a good solution, but you never know if you don't ask! :D

iOS:
You can enter this link into the card's "Extra Info" field. (This can be done in a spreadsheet, or in the app from the card's edit screen.)

Then from the study screen, tap bottom-center icon, then "More Card Info". (This option will be shown if text entered in "Extra Info" field.) If the value in this field is a web URL (http), a webpage should open to that page. If it's a link to another app, that app should immediately open.

If this isn't working for you, you can let me know.

Linking to Other Apps (iBooks)

I’m trying to create links in my Flashcards that will take me to external reference materials (by “external” I mean outside of the Flashcards Deluxe app, but hosted locally on my iPhone or iPad). For example, I am using FD to prep for an IT Security certification exam that is described in great detail in an ePub on Apple Books. I could cut & paste the info from the ebook, but I’d much rather have a hyperlink that will open the actual book in my Apple Books application.

Apple says that we can open iBooks to a specific book by including the assetid of the book you want to open. Getting the assetid is a bit cumbersome, but doable if your list of references repeats frequently. Example:
Code: Select all
ibooks://assetid/1396541327

Additional details can be found on the Apple.com website - https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202929 - where they also mention that you can’t use a link to open to a specific page of an Apple Books ePub (just my luck).

I ran across some dated material (circa 2010) about using links formatted as
Code: Select all
itms-books://
, but it was quite old and doesn’t seem to be working any longer.

Has anybody else wrestled with the hyperlink monster? Have you had any luck? I’d love to learn more.

Thanks,
John
