Hi murat,

I'm sorry, I can't duplicate the problem on my device (iOS 13), so I don't know what the problem is yet. I'll make a note of the issue though.

For next update, I did add shortcuts for edit card ("e") and more card info ("o"). But note that I don't have any keyboard shortcuts on these two screens to return to study screen, so it's of limited use. Maybe I will improve eventually when I have more time.

Bluetooth keyboard shortcuts in card edit screen:
tab = next side
shift tab = previous side
control/alt/command + p = previous side
control/alt/command + d = done + new card

You can use a Bluetooth keyboard or remote to answer while studying.
Keyboard: arrows/WASD/IJKL, space (flip)
Remote: +, -, previous, next, play (flip)

Other keyboard commands while studying:
space - start/stop slideshow in browse mode
c, v, m - play sound
f - toggle flag
x - toggle exclude (if study button shown)
e - edit card
o - more card info

Spelling mode:
use control/command key with above keys
control/command + m - play answer sound

Multiple choice:
1-5 - select answer option

iOS: make sure "Global Options > Control > Enable External Control" is turned on to use study screen commands

Hi Ernie,

I just would like to point out a small bug when using "control/alt/command + d = done + new card" the app crashes in IOS 13. thanks again for this awesome app.

Hi murat,

Thanks for the feedback. I just added this to my (potential) to-do list and I will consider this. I've got a lot on my list and this isn't quite at the top of my priority list, but I'll try to get to it.

Hi Ernie,

I’ve been using FD since 2010 and I love it. Just bought a bluetooth keyboard and it makes using FD even better. I was wondering if you can add more keyboard shortcuts for such as ‘more card info’ and ‘edit cards’ which would be awesome when studying for extending period of time. I have an iPad and with added mouse support its much easier to navigate but I think more shortcuts would be great. thanks for your consideration.

Hi Jani,

I can add shortcut for sound-play in spelling mode.

I propose:
ctrl-f = play question sound
ctrl-j = play answer sound
(these are your index finger keys)

Do you have a different suggestion?

Hello Ernie,

Just bought Bluetooth keyboard (even though I'm way faster in typing with on-screen keyboard, slide option) it's tiring to type all time with fingers on screen. So now I have alternative for when I'm at home. And I'll get faster with time and I suppose learn better, because now for every character ill be making two different fingers movement while learning them, so that should enhance mine memory of character, but that I need to see yet.

Have problem, there is no hotkey for playing sound file in spelling mode, c and m work in other modes, though obviously in spelling mode those keys have letter function, could you add hotkey for spelling mode, ctr+c or something, it would be so much help. And if it it's not too hard to add hotkey for playing second sound file that is found in "type in text box". Though this second isn't that important, as I need slow tts less and less.

With Bluetooth keyboard, one can learn and train blind typing with your app as well. Think it should be rather fast and easy to make deck for it, adding pictures which show which finger is used for which letter could be easy added as well, or just numbers for fingers, which would be even easier and faster. And once one learns keys position, one can turn on tts, and train further blind typing with closed eyes.

Really great app you've made, so awesome

Jani

The keyboard should still work for navigating cards. On Android, flip is now "S" or "K" instead of space, while wrong is "X" or comma.

I don't find that the navigating cards (flip wasd, etc.) work, while the editing short cuts posted seem to work fine. Are the former no longer available?

Below are keyboard shortcuts that currently exist:

You can use a Bluetooth keyboard or remote to answer while studying.
Keyboard: arrows/WASD/IJKL, space (flip)
Remote: +, -, previous, next, play (flip)
iOS: you must turn on Global Options > Control > Enable External Control

Other keyboard commands while studying:
space - start/stop slideshow in browse mode
c, m - play sound
f - toggle flag

Bluetooth keyboard shortcuts in card edit screen:
tab = next side
shift tab = previous side
control/alt/command + p = previous side
control/alt/command + d = done + new card
iOS: "Enable External Control" does NOT need to be on for these
